I was talking to an American friend the other day about the upcoming election.
Her: ‘Hillary is really un-American, and that’s the worst thing you can ever say about an American.’
Me: ‘That’s weird, we don’t have that term in Ireland. No-one ever says, ‘that’s really un-Irish.’
Her: ‘What do you say then if someone does something that is really un-Irish.’
Me: ‘Oh, we just say, “that’s really English”, and that’s probably the worst thing you can say about an Irish person.’
